Heat Pumps

Heat pumps with the £7,500 grant taken off

Swap your boiler for an air source heat pump and heat your home with electricity. The government's Boiler Upgrade Scheme pays £7,500 towards it, and homes switching from oil, LPG or electric heating can get £9,000 until 31 March 2027. See your size, price and running cost below in a minute.

Instant estimate

What would a heat pump cost for your home?

Four quick questions. Your estimate updates as you answer.

Older homes usually lose heat faster, so they need a bigger heat pump. Loft and wall insulation help a lot.

How we work this out

Solar, battery and heat pump: the full package

A heat pump runs on electricity, so the cheapest electricity makes it cheapest to run. Solar panels make your own power in the daytime. A battery stores it, and can also charge on a cheap overnight tariff. Together they cut what you pay for both heating and electricity.

Fitting all three at once also means one survey, one electrical upgrade and one team. Get your solar and battery price alongside your heat pump estimate.

How the grant works

Grant rules can change. See GOV.UK: Boiler Upgrade Scheme for the latest.

Who fits it

iComm Energy is your single point of contact from the first estimate to the handover. Your heat pump is surveyed, designed and installed by an MCS-certified heat pump partner, who claims the grant for you. We stay with you afterwards for servicing, and for solar, batteries and EV chargers if you want them later.

Areas we cover

Heat pumps across Northamptonshire, including Northampton, Kettering, Wellingborough, Daventry, Corby, Towcester and Rushden. Read our guide to the £7,500 grant.

Common questions

Will a heat pump keep my home warm?

Yes, when it's sized properly for your home's heat loss. Heat pumps run at lower temperatures for longer, so the survey checks your radiators and some may be upsized. That's included in the quote.

Do I need a hot water cylinder?

Usually, yes. Most heat pumps heat a hot water cylinder rather than heating water on demand like a combi boiler. The survey finds the best place for it.

Is it cheaper to run than gas?

Usually about the same on a standard tariff, and cheaper on a heat pump tariff or with solar and a battery. If you come off gas completely you also stop paying the gas standing charge, about £108 a year. LPG and electric heater homes usually save the most.

How long does installation take?

Most installations take 2 to 5 days, depending on how much pipework and how many radiators need changing.
