Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions we hear most from homeowners across Northamptonshire. Can't find what you need? Get in touch — we're happy to help.

Is 0% VAT still available on solar panel and battery installations?

Yes — qualifying residential solar panel and battery storage installations currently benefit from 0% VAT, until 31 March 2027. This applies automatically; there's nothing extra you need to do to claim it.

Are you MCS certified?

We work with MCS-certified installation partners on every job while completing our own MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) accreditation. Every installation we carry out is fully certified from day one — you're not waiting on us to catch up — and we're happy to share partner certification details on request.

What is MCS certification and why does it matter?

MCS is the industry standard confirming your system meets recognised UK quality and safety standards. It's also the certificate you need to register for the Smart Export Guarantee, which pays you for electricity your system exports back to the grid.

Can you fit a battery if I don't have a garage?

Yes — batteries can be safely wall-mounted outside or sited in a utility room, following PAS 63100 safety guidance. We assess the best spot for your property during your free site survey.

What areas do you cover?

Northampton and the surrounding area. Get in touch with your postcode and we'll confirm whether we cover you.

How long does installation take?

Most residential solar and battery installations are fitted safely and to full UK electrical standards within a day or two, depending on system size and property. Your site survey will give you a more specific estimate for your job.

What happens during the free site survey?

We assess your roof, shading, and electrics on-site, then send a clear, itemised quote — there's no obligation and no hidden costs.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

A deposit is payable to secure your installation date, with the balance due as set out in your written quote or contract. Exact amounts and payment stages are always confirmed with you in writing before you're asked to pay anything.

Can I cancel after signing a contract?

If you agree to a contract with us away from our business premises (for example, in your home), UK consumer law gives you a 14-day cooling-off period from the day after you receive written confirmation of the contract, during which you can cancel without giving a reason. Full details are on our Terms & Conditions page.

What warranty do I get?

Our installation work carries a workmanship warranty for the period stated in your contract. Solar panels, batteries, and inverters are also covered by the relevant manufacturer's own warranty, details of which we'll provide at handover.

What happens after my system is switched on?

Once your system's live, we're still here — from warranty registration through to routine servicing, so it keeps performing the way it should for years to come. We'll also walk you through your monitoring app at handover.

How much does a solar panel or battery installation cost?

It depends on your roof, household usage, and the system size that's right for you. Our cost guide has typical price ranges by system size, or you can get a free, no-obligation quote tailored to your property.
